Print Prep specs

Setup notes and briefing numbers for Print Prep.

Preflight checks before print

The Print Prep specs page lists the technical points we check before anything goes to print. It covers file condition, sizing, and output notes that help avoid avoidable production errors.

Print Prep specs cover the checks we run before artwork is released to production for wall pieces and decor graphics. It includes file format, scale, bleed, resolution, colour handling, and any trim or panel notes needed for the selected output. South African site conditions also matter, especially for large installs in Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town where transport, humidity, and fitting access can affect how artwork should be prepared.

A clear site image helps us match the file setup to the actual install area, not just the quoted size. We also note viewing distance, obstacle positions, and whether joins, borders, or crop points must line up with architectural features. That record stays useful if a panel is damaged later and one section needs to be printed again.

What the specs page covers

Pin down the technical instruction set that travels with the artwork. It records dimensions, panel breaks, scale percentage, finishing method, and any notes on safe margins for trimming or mounting. One accurate print file with proper output notes prevents more waste than multiple revised layouts without production detail.

Use Print Prep specs alongside the job file so artwork, measurements, and output instructions stay in one place. Check panel order, final size, colour mode, and embedded or outlined fonts before sending anything onward.

  • Final size, bleed, and trim noted
  • Resolution checked at output scale
  • Panel sequence marked for production

Production conditions in South Africa

Different regions place different demands on print preparation. Coastal projects in KZN and the Western Cape may need closer attention to material choice, laminate selection, and packing notes, while Gauteng jobs often involve long corridor access, lifts, or staged installation on commercial sites. Those realities affect how oversized artwork is split, labelled, and dispatched.

Load-shedding, dust, and site traffic can interfere with both printing and fitting, so prep notes must be exact before output begins. We also flag areas where strong sunlight, moisture, or repeated cleaning may influence finish selection for wall art products. When artwork is intended for a showroom, office, hospitality venue, or retail display, that end use should appear in the spec sheet.

Information needed for prepress

Send the finished dimensions, artwork file, and any brand colour references with the brief. Include notes on repeats, panel joins, crop preference, and whether logos or text must sit away from edges.

Add marked-up visuals if a crop area is critical or if separate panels need a specific reading order on site. It also helps to include previous print issues such as pixelation, incorrect scaling, banding, or colour shift so the file can be checked against those risks before release.
